Angelica archangelica is a biennial herbaceous plant native to Europe.

Leaves, stems, roots, seeds are all edible parts of the plant. Leaves are eaten as vegetables in Greenland and Scandinavia. The young stalks are candied or added to rhubarb or jams. Roots and seeds flavor liqueurs.

The flowers, which blossom in July, are small and numerous, yellowish or greenish, are grouped into large, globular umbels which bear pale yellow, oblong fruits.
