Masterwort is an herbaceous perennial plant of European origin, spread spontaneously State in the wooded areas of Alps and Apennines.
The plant found widely used in antiquity as herb medicinally. The rhizomes were used to cure various diseases.
In some areas the leaves are still eaten as a condiment, added to salads and soups and used for flavouring of cheese and liqueurs.
