Botanical name: Atriplex halimus

Shrubby species by vigorous growth, Atriplex halimus spontaneous State in the Mediterranean area is present on sandy soils and rocks.

The plant is characterized by silvery-gray foliage hairless and erect, well tolerate drastic pruning.

The leaves were an important food for men in ancient times. Still the young shoots of Atriplex halimus are consumed, such as by the Portuguese, like asparagus. Raw or cooked leaves are great for any culinary use given the pleasant aroma.
