European herbaceous, Barbarea vulgaris ' Variegata ' is a perennial with an interesting ornamental foliage. It completely green in Barbarea vulgaris, occurs in this Green and cream-coloured variety, that is.

The leaves of this species are edible and resemble the taste of Nasturtium officinalis, resulting also pleasantly pepper. They can be picked and eaten fresh in salads, added to soups or cooked and blasted in a pan with a little butter.
