Botanical name: Citrus hystrix
Citrus hystrix is a citrus fruit from the dense foliage and aromatic. The genus Citrus, the appellation "hystrix" is a direct reference to the numerous thorns on the branches of the tree.
Native to Southeast Asia, this perennial shrub has a particularly interesting foliage. Given its intense aroma, it is an ingredient in many Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.
The plant also produces green berries, whose bark looks heavily rippled. This part is used in cooking to flavor sauces and condiments.
